What I'm loving (and not): August/September
I haven’t done one of these in a while and have a lot of random things I’ve been into lately, so here goes.
Gnocchi and Brussels Sprouts recipe
This recipe from the New York Times is so good, and takes no time at all. When I don’t know what to make for dinner or am feeling uninspired, I’ll just make a variation of this and add a protein, like pre-cooked shrimp or chicken. Trader Joe’s shelf stable gnocchi is perfectly delicious and something like $1.99 per package
Covey skincare
I have been interested in trying Covey skincare products for a bit after following their founder on the social medias, and they recently had an irresistible Labor day promotion. I absolutely love the moisturizer and face wash, and will give the vitamin C serum a try as soon as my current one runs out.
(not loving): the Washington Post article on “influencer dietitians”
If you haven’t seen this article, it was a doozy and I have a lot of thoughts. Stay tuned for them on Wednesday.
Cozy pajamas
I’ve been struggling with my sleep for a fairly long time, and I do find having a relaxing routine in the evening is helpful. There is something about having a nice pair of pajamas that makes me happy and signals to the body (and brain) that it’s time to wind down. I indulged in a couple pairs of these are they are delightful and so comfy.
On running shoes
I got a pair of these shoes for work (we get to wear scrubs which is amazing) and they are so comfortable and cute. I haven’t really run in On shoes as of yet, but I’m intrigued to try them.
Local shoutouts
The East End Bar and Grill, which is the Upper East Side’s designated Buffalo Bills bar. If you’re a Bills fan in New York, it’s a really fun place to watch the games. Go Bills
The chicory coffee from Blue Bottle has been a nice treat
I feel like Morandi in the West Village had it’s moment in the sun, but we recently had brunch there when family was in town and it was decent (and very easy to get a reservation, lol)
My husband and I had a great meal at abcV, a vegan version of ABC Kitchen (and right next to ABC Kitchen) near Union Square. I always think vegan desserts are exceptionally delicious, and their chocolate cherry layer cake was amazing
The new cast of the Real Housewives of New York City. They’re just so good
When we were in Boston in August, I had a delicious breakfast wrap from Life Alive (and am waiting patiently for these to come to NYC)
